raspberry chia jam recipe

Raspberry Chia Jam

A simple homemade jam made with just three ingredients. It’s naturally sweetened with maple syrup, contains more fibre thanks to the chia seeds and is lower in added sugar than many traditional jams. The extra fibre can also help slow the release of sugar into the bloodstream, helping to avoid a rapid rise in blood glucose. And the best part? It’s ready in around 10 minutes!

Ingredients

  • 300g raspberries
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds

Method

  1. Add the raspberries to a small saucepan and cook over a medium-low heat for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Remove from the heat and mash the raspberries to your preferred consistency. For a smooth jam, blitz with a hand blender.
  3. Stir in the maple syrup.
  4. Return to the heat and simmer for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Remove from the heat and stir in the chia seeds.
  6. Transfer to a clean, airtight container and leave to cool before refrigerating.

Storage: Keep refrigerated and use within 5–7 days. Always use a clean spoon when serving.

Variations

You can use other berries instead of raspberries. If using frozen fruit, you may need to cook the jam for a little longer to allow some of the extra liquid to evaporate.

For a little extra flavour, try adding a pinch of cinnamon or another spice of your choice.
