Dementia Awareness Week
Led by the Alzheimer’s Society, this year’s campaign focuses on encouraging early diagnosis and reducing the stigma around dementia.
Encouraging diagnosis – Early diagnosis can improve access to treatments, support networks and future planning.
Removing stigma – Raising awareness helps people understand that those living with dementia can still live meaningful, fulfilling lives with the right support.
The Lancet Commission on Dementia Prevention, Intervention and Care reviewed the latest research and identified 14 modifiable dementia risk factors, including two newly added this year: uncorrected vision loss and high cholesterol. Together, these factors may account for up to 45% of dementia cases worldwide.
This means there is real potential to reduce dementia risk before it begins.

Look for People Doing Good
Sir David Attenborough turned 100 this week, marking more than seven decades of educating and inspiring us about our planet. One of his most powerful messages is simple: “Don’t waste things.” While he was referring to resources like energy, food and paper, the sentiment reaches further — don’t waste love, time or opportunity either.
A true pioneer in protecting the planet, Sir David has challenged generations to think differently about the role we each play, leaving an extraordinary positive impact on the world.
